M31 the great galaxy in Andromeda

M31 with an ASA N8 20cm f2.75 astrograph and modified Canon 350D

8 x 7 minute + 8 x 2 min + 8 x 1 min + 8 x 30s + 8 x 15s + 8 x 5 s exposures at 800 ISO, this image was made on September 11, 2007 in Puimichel in the south of France.
Processing was done in PixInsight, the stacks were stacked using HDR Compositing, dan after that treated with HDR Wavelets to compress the dynamic range.
Processign was done nearly 5 years after the images were made... PixInsight is a very powerfull tool for processing astronomical images.

This is a layered stack in Photoshop, first try, but it is not good enough, still lots of detail are visible.

The same stack, now processed with Photomatix to get a very soft result with details from core to the outer edges.

My first attempt at a mosaic, August 12, 2007. Some seams are still visible and the core is burnt out, so I will have to do it again! The complete mosaic is 17 MegaPixels.
4 tiles of 3 stacked exposures of 3 minutes each made at 1600 ISO with a modified Canon 350D, and a 20-cm (8") f/2.75 ASA Astrograph.
